VACANCY: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

A vacancy has become available within the marketing department of Malatji & Co Inc.

 

The ideal candidate must:

 

  • Have a minimum 5 years business development experience.
  • Have relevant Marketing / Communication / Media / Law / Business Administration Degree / Diploma.
  • Have excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be organised and efficient – ability to prioritise and organise workload and complete assigned tasks on a timely basis.
  • Have an analytical and logical approach to work, able to research and organise information in a structural way.
  • Have a Meticulous eye for detail and accuracy.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for:-

 

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

 

  • Understand Malatji & Co’s strategic plan and ensure that the business development objectives support these plans.
  • Update existing Client Relationship Management (“CRM”) tool/ list from the Firm’s top 100 list and tender awards, with new clients with relevant contact and other details of the new clients that have appointed us on tenders.
  • Update CRM tool to reflect status of bids.
  • Contact public clients with whom Malatji & Co submitted tenders and bid validity has expires and we are yet to receive a response.
  • Create and update new client list with successful tender awards.
  • Update client publishing list for marketing material.
  • Proactively work with directors to target clients for meet and greet visits and arrange to schedule such visits.
  • Attend to client background research in preparation for meet and greet meetings and formulate a summary of findings/ profile the clients.
  • Prepare ‘Pitch’ documents for the meet and greet meetings, including profiling the clients, firm profile, corporate material such as branded pens, mouse pads, and prepare the “Pitch” documents in a branded cover.
  • Arrange meet and greet with clients, liaise with directors on availability, schedule meet and greet meetings and follow up with clients.
  • Project manage Bids/Tenders/RFQ’s and ‘Pitches’ (including drafting and editing) to ensure all key protocols are adhered to and firm brand style compliant.
  • Conduct debriefs and analysis of feedback, whether won or lost and to use the information to improve the quality of future Bids/Tenders/Pitches and identify trends.
  • Work alongside the Marketing and Tender Assistant to ensure that consistent key messages are conveyed to clients and ensure Bids/Tenders/Pitches activity is aligned to business development strategy.
  • Assist with ad hoc marketing and business development requests and campaign.
  • Supporting the business and practice teams or various projects, including conference planning.
  • Assist with marketing ad hoc general admin duties.
  • Identify and assist with corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Identify and assist with planning practice area seminars and client events.

 

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT:

 

  • Liaise with responsible director on any changes required to the website.
  • Liaise with photographer to arrange photo-shoot of new professional staff.
  • Liaise with marketing assistants on short biography and CV of new professional staff to be uploaded on the website. Ensure consistency of write up with current Malatji & Co write ups.
  • Liaise with graphic designer and website developers to upload photos and bios of new professional staff and promoted staff.
  • Update letterhead on new appointments and promotions.
  • Review website for updates, fresh looks to keep up with new trends, consistencies and any typographical errors.
  • Attend to all administrate tasks including invoices of service providers and liaise with Financial Director for payments.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA AND FIRM AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS:

 

  • Liaise with directors and associates on new notable judgments.
  • Develop and work closely with the directors on internal and external (newsletters, social media) content for the Firm.
  • Liaise with legal publications for articles requirements and source draft articles from directors and associates, identify editors to edit draft articles and publish.
  • Identify awards and/or rankings which the firm can participate in to increase awareness of the firm and prepare proposals for directors to consider.
  • Identify noteworthy matters, firm developments such as promotions, new professionals, etc and liaise with graphic designer on Linked-in posts.
  • Identify, coordinate and evaluate legal events/ seminars/ workshops which Malatji & Co can participate in including speaking opportunities at conferences, networking and strategic sponsorships and prepare proposals for directors to consider.
  • Help develop content for conferences and seminars/ workshops etc.
  • Identify, evaluate and coordinate the Firm’s involvement with key memberships in relevant influential legal organizations.
  • Identify trends and benchmark studies on latest developments in the legal field and other key competitor firms, which align with Malatji & Co’s visions and mission which Malatji & Co can participate in.
  • Formulate an annual project plan on initiatives, networking sponsorships, projects and awards to participate in for submission to the Board.
  • Communicate regularly with marketing assistant team on draft submissions, deadline and any write ups required.

 

BRANDING

 

  • Source list of branding material from Officer Manager.
  • Identify new marketing branding material which the firm must procure in line with latest trends.
  • Attend to counting stock and procuring current branded material before it is depleted.
  • Update branding material list.

 

REPORTING

 

  • Provide bi-monthly and ad hoc Board reports regarding:
  • Detailed bid/ tender/ meet and greet activities to reflect statistical information on submitted bids and RFQs versus awards, rejections, non-response, instructions received, meet and greets and instructions arising from RFQs and meet and greets. Utilise existing firm systems and other resources to obtain relevant information, including the Marketing and Tender Assistants, as well as AJS and the Public and Administrative Law secretary on new instructions.
  • Website updates, Social Media campaigns and brand awareness activities, attended to and proposed changes and statical information arising therefrom, i.e. any new leads generated therefrom.
  • Prepare reports on awards, achievements and rankings of the firm and practitioners.
  • Proposals on Corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Proposal on legal events, seminars, workshops, practice area seminars and client events and new courses which practitioners can attend.
  • Any other trends, initiatives which Malatji & Co can participate in.
