Zama Hlatshwayo is an alumna from the University of the Free State, where she graduated with a BCom Law Degree in 2021 and an LLB (Cum Laude) Degree in 2023.
During her articles of clerkship, Zama gained comprehensive exposure across the firm’s Public Law, Employment Law, and Commercial Litigation departments. Following the successful completion of her articles, she was retained and subsequently promoted to the position of Associate in the Public Law and Commercial Litigation Department.
Zama has an avid interest in diversifying her skill set within the legal profession. As such, she has obtained certificates in both Plain Language Writing Skills for lawyers and Opinion Writing, which she obtained through short courses offered by the University of Cape Town and the Law Society of South Africa, respectively.
Zama’s practice focuses on public and administrative law, regulatory compliance, and commercial litigation. She advises both public sector bodies and private entities on issues relating to governance, procurement law, contractual disputes, and statutory interpretation. Her work also extends to drafting legal opinions, pleadings, and advising on matters involving procedural fairness and the exercise of public power.
